ORCA Data Analysis & Visualization
This site provides initial visualizations of ORCA boarding data related to the ORCA Data Analysis joint project funded by Sound Transit, PSRC, and WSDOT. We are also thankful for the additional data provided by the local transit agencies, including Community Transit, King County Metro, and Pierce Transit, as well as data from Washington State Ferries.
The following visulaizations are preliminary and highly likely to contain errors or omissions, since the data analysis effort is still underway. The visualizations are meant to showcase what can be done with the data, as well as new ways to investigate and view the data.
- Ridership - this map shows average daily boardings by stop for the two month period from 17 Feb 2015 to 14 April 2015. Click each tab in the upper right to see different data. You can select subsets of data by highlighting portions of the disribution chart on the tab.
- Travel Activity - this map shows individual boarding and transfer activity by mode by highlighting each point when a person boards or transfers for a 10-minute period from 07:00 to 07:10 on 24 Feb 2015. You may have trouble loading this map on older machines or browsers, and the time slider function is quirky in Internet Explorer.
